The Good Dinosaur: Overcoming Fear and Finding Strength
Disney has always been known for creating amazing movies that capture the hearts of both children and adults alike. One of their lesser-known films is “The Good Dinosaur.” Released in 2015, the movie explores the concept of what would happen if the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs never hit Earth. It tells the story of a young Apatosaurus named Arlo and his journey to find his way home after being separated from his family. As its one of our favourites and within our licencing portfolio we thought we would go over this amazing movie and why you should watch it, if you haven’t already!!
The movie opens with a beautiful scene of a vast, lush forest, where dinosaurs live in harmony with nature. The animation is breathtaking, and the attention to detail is astounding. You can see every leaf rustle in the wind, every water droplet ripple on the surface of a lake. The movie does an excellent job of immersing you in the world of the dinosaurs.
Arlo is the smallest of his siblings and is struggling to find his place in the world. His father, Henry, believes in the value of hard work and overcoming fear, and tries to help Arlo find his inner strength. However, Arlo’s fears prevent him from being as confident as his siblings, and he is always trailing behind them.
One day, while trying to catch a wild critter that has been stealing their food, Arlo is swept away by a river and ends up far from home. Alone and scared, Arlo must rely on his wits to find his way back to his family. Along the way, he meets a young human boy he names Spot, who becomes his companion and guide through the wilderness.
The relationship between Arlo and Spot is heartwarming and endearing. They don’t speak the same language, but they understand each other in a way that transcends words. As they journey together, they face many dangers, including dangerous creatures and treacherous landscapes.
One of the most memorable scenes in the movie is when Arlo and Spot encounter a group of T-Rexes who are ranchers. The T-Rexes are voiced by well-known actors, including Sam Elliott and Anna Paquin, and are an amusing and unexpected addition to the story. The scene is a testament to the filmmakers’ creativity, and it’s hard not to smile at the thought of T-Rex cowboys.
The movie’s central theme is overcoming fear, and it’s a message that resonates with both children and adults. Arlo’s journey is about facing his fears head-on and discovering his inner strength. It’s a powerful message that speaks to anyone who has ever felt afraid or unsure of themselves.
In conclusion, “The Good Dinosaur” is a beautifully animated and heartwarming movie that explores the power of friendship, the importance of family, and the strength that comes from facing your fears. It may not be as well-known as some of Disney’s other movies, but it’s a gem that’s worth watching.
