Everything you need to know about creepy new horror film M3GAN and where to watch it

Set to release on Friday the 13th of January, the sci-fi film follows a robot, M3GAN, and her new family who created the AI doll to keep their beloved daughter company. Except, of course, there’s a twist. M3gan can be a little overprotective. As Universal Pictures is within our licencing portfolio, we thought we would tell you everything we know about the new film:

Synopsis –

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

Produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, M3GAN is directed by award-winning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (Housebound), from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2) based on a story by Akela Cooper and James Wan.

The film also stars Ronny Chieng (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Brian Jordan Alvarez (Will & Grace), Jen Van Epps (Cowboy Bebop), Lori Dungey (The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, extended edition) and Stephane Garneau-Monten (Straight Forward).

Release date and where to watch –

M3GAN will be released in UK cinemas on Friday the 13th of January.

It will initially only be shown on the big screen.

The age rating is PG-13.

Cast –

Allison Williams stars as Gemma, the unexpected caretaker of her eight year old niece, Cady. Unable to cope, Gemma calls upon creepy doll M3GAN to help.

The 34-year-old American actor is most famous for playing Marnie Michaels in the HBO series Girls.

Allison also is an executive producer of the film.

Cady is played by child actor Violet McGraw, who has appeared in numerous roles since 2018, when her debut performance saw her cast as Nina in popular Netflix series, Love.

Behind the icon that is M3GAN is not a load of wires and buttons, and not even just one actor but two.

One is 12-year-old Amie Donald, who, as a competitive international dancer, physically brought M3GAN to life in her movements and those iconic dance scenes.

New Zealand-born Amie is also an actor and played Maya Monkey in Netflix’s’ 2021 series Sweet Tooth.

As for M3GAN’s voice, YouTube sensation Jenna Davis is the 18-year-old behind that.

Hogwarts Legacy Release Date, Gameplay, And Everything We Know

Set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player RPG where players get to experience life as a student at the esteemed wizarding school. The game is set in the 1800s, 100 or so years prior to the original book series, and has an original story created by the development team at Avalanche Software. As Harry Potter is within our licencing portfolio, we thought we would tell you everything we know about the upcoming game:

Synopsis –

Due to Hogwarts Legacy taking place in the 1800s, you will not run into the main characters of the books and films; Harry, Ron, or Hermione during your time at Hogwarts. You get to create your own character that comes to Hogwarts late, starting in your fifth year behind the rest of your classmates. You’ll get to pick your house and attend classes at Hogwarts.

Your character will get to explore the Hogwarts castle and the surrounding areas, trying to solve its many secrets and mysteries under the direction of Professor Fig. In the wizarding world, a Goblin rebellion is picking up steam with assistance from dark wizards. You will need to balance classes and bigger world events in Hogwarts Legacy.

Multiplayer –

Hogwarts Legacy does not feature multiplayer or co-op of any kind. On the Hogwarts Legacy official website It states “Hogwarts Legacy is a single player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay.” While there will be plenty of other wizards and students to interact with in Hogwarts Legacy, all of those characters will be NPCs.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 10th, 2023, following a delay from Holiday 2022. People who buy the more expensive edition can start playing 72 hours earlier, beginning February 7. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy are scheduled to launch on April 4th, and the Switch version is coming July 25th.

What to Watch at Christmas

It’s time to sit by the fire, get cosy and watch your favourite series and movies. As Disney is within our licencing portfolio, we thought we would tell you a little bit about our favourite shows and films to watch this Christmas:

1. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

As the fourth phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga draws to a close, it’s been a period where Marvel has been experimenting with how they’ve been expanding this ambitious world. The biggest example of that is the Disney+ series including Wandavision, Loki, Moon Knight and many more, all being vital to the expansion of the MCU. Just this past October, Disney and Marvel conducted another ambitious MCU experiment with Werewolf by Night, an hour-long Halloween special that yielded some very high praise for its unique execution. Many assumed this ambitious and experimental period for Marvel would conclude with the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but Marvel has one more surprise cooked up for fans before the year is done.

2. Lego Star Wars Holiday Special

As her friends prep for a Life Day holiday celebration, Rey journeys with BB-8 on a quest to gain a deeper knowledge of the Force at a mysterious Jedi Temple. There, she embarks on a cross-timeline adventure through beloved moments in Star Wars history, coming into contact with iconic heroes and villains from all eras of the saga. 3. Hawkeye

Kate Bishop, a skilled archer whose overconfidence can cloud her judgment, lands in the middle of a criminal conspiracy. Meanwhile, Clint Barton’s much-needed Christmas trip to New York City with his kids is interrupted when a painful part of his past resurfaces. It’s just a matter of time till their paths cross, forcing Hawkeye out of retirement.

4. Home Alone

When Kevin McCallister is left behind while his family dashes off on a Christmas holiday, he is left to defend his family’s home from two bumbling burglars until the relatives return.

5. Noelle

Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit but wishes she could do something important like her brother Nick, who will take over for their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he takes a break and gets away… but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.

Who are the Minions

There are times in the Despicable Me movies where over 10,000 Minions are shown on screen at once! Considering that they look fairly similar — some nearly identical — it’s almost impossible to keep track of who is who. If you have seen the movies, you likely remember a few of the Minion names, but do you remember what kind of shenanigans each of the Minion’s cast gets into? As the Minions are within our licencing portfolio, we thought we would create character profiles for 8 of our main Minions. Let’s see how well you know your despicable Minions!

Stuart the Minion

Minion Stuart is one of the three main characters featured in the Minions movie. While he acts fairly innocent in the first few movies, he plays a teenage rebel in this on-screen appearance. Distinguished by his one brown eye and centre combed Minion hair, he has been fairly easy to keep tabs on.

During the first two movies, Stuart was involved in a lot of mischief. A few of his most memorable moments include flirting with a yellow fire hydrant, spraying Carl with the fire extinguisher while he was dressed up as Lucy, driving a car with Dave, being used as a glow stick and parasailing behind Lucy’s car, bound by his bibs.

Kevin the Minion

In the Minions movie, Kevin the Minion takes on a leading role. While Minion Kevin was a household name in both Despicable Me movies, the two depictions are actually quite different. Kevin in the original Despicable Me film was much shorter and only had one eye, nearly identical to Stuart. It is unclear if the directors gave Kevin a redesign before Despicable Me 2 or if these are different Minion characters altogether.

The Kevin that we see in the Minions movie is the one you likely remember as the golfer, he tried to hit a golf ball off of Jerry’s mouth in the second movie. Shortly after, they hear rustling noises coming from outside, which they discover is just a cat in the garbage. Kevin teases Jerry for being a coward and then both of them are abducted by Dr. Nefario and taken to the Minion beach before they are turned evil. Kevin was also the only Minion cured by the actual PX-41 antidote.

Bob the Minion

Alongside Stuart and Kevin, Minion Bob is the final main character in the Minions movie. He is short, plump, bald and Minion Bob is the only one that has two different coloured Minion eyes (green and brown). This is also known as heterochromia.

Although Bob doesn’t have much screen time in the second Despicable Me film, you likely remember him from the end credits where Kevin, Stuart, and Bob auditioned for the new movie. His childlike antics were hilarious as he worked tirelessly to keep the audition screens open.

Dave the Minion

Minion Dave isn’t one of the main characters in the Minions movie, but in Despicable Me, Dave was up to no good quite frequently. Which minion is Dave? He has two brown eyes, combed hair, and you will often find him causing trouble with Stuart.

Perhaps you remember the Minion that shot the bazooka full of other Minions? That was Dave. He also steered—or held the wheel, rather—Lucy’s car around the mall while Stuart pressed the pedals. Along with Stuart, he was one of the only Minions who wasn’t abducted by Dr. Nefario and turned into an evil Minion. Gru then painted Dave and Stuart purple to try to save the other Minions, but when Dave tried to communicate, his paint began to smear.

Phil the Minion

Minion Phil is a two-eyed, spiky-haired Minion who doesn’t get a lot of screen time, but is infamous for his lovely French maid attire. While Phil was cleaning the house, there was a knock at the door. When he answered it, he got abducted. Although we never see who abducted him, it was assumed to be Dr. Nefario.

We also hear Phil’s name mentioned in the first film. He is the Minion who dresses up like a baby and goes to the store to get Agnes a new Unicorn toy. However, there is one huge difference, this Phil only has one eye. Like Kevin, it is unclear if this is the same character with a new design or a completely different Phil.

Tim the Minion

Minion Tim looks a lot like Kevin, tall, with two eyes and sprout hair. It can be extremely difficult to tell the two apart, though Tim is often dressed like a dad. In the first Despicable Me movie, a mustache and a hat gave him the dad-like quality. During the second movie, he is seen with a beard when Gru announces his new job. Strangely enough, Tim appears bald in this scene. We have also seen him with Phil and Mark attempting to sing “Copacabana”.

Carl the Minion

Bee-do-bee-do-bee-do! One of the most memorable lines happens to be Carl’s only line in the first two Despicable Me movies. Carl is another one-eyed Minion with one brown eye and spiky hair, but you can’t see it beneath his siren hat. After Gru sets his phone on fire, Minion Carl comes into the room saying “bee-do” on repeat through a megaphone. Stuart, who is dressed like Lucy, then sprays him with the fire extinguisher and launches him across the room in a not-so-subtle effort to tell him to be quiet.

Jorge the Minion

This plump little two-eyed, spiky-haired Minion is not very well-known by name, but it’s hard to forget him. If you don’t know who Minion Jorge is, you will likely remember him as the Minion who photocopied his own butt. Jorge was also one of the firefighters carrying the hose, and he busted through Gru’s wall.

Everything We Know About ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ Season 2

Last year, Star Wars fans were treated to a new animated entry into the expanding canon — Star Wars: The Bad Batch. From Lucasfilm, the creative mind of Dave Filoni has been involved in various projects like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars Resistance. The Bad Batch re-introduced a team of experimental clones, Clone Force 99, as they navigated the rise of the Galactic Empire and the execution of Order 66.

What is Star Wars: The Bad Batch?

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is an animated television series consisting of 16 episodes based on George Lucas’s Star Wars. Airing on Disney+, the series began with a feature-length premiere (“Aftermath”) on Star Wars Day (May 4th, 2021), followed by a second episode on May 7th, and then weekly entries coming each Friday thereafter.

The Star Wars animated series was created by Dave Filoni, and developed by him and Jennifer Corbett, with Brad Rau acting as the supervising director. Executive producers for the project were Filoni, Corbett, Rau, and Athena Yvette Portillo and it was produced by Josh Rimes.

Who is in the cast of Star Wars: The Bad Batch?

The main voice cast consists of Dee Bradley Baker who reprises his roles as all of Clone Force 99 — Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Crosshair and Tech. Baker also voices characters Cut Lawquane, Commander Cody, Captains Rex, Howzer and Gregor. Joining the Star Wars veteran in the main cast is Michelle Ang, who plays fellow clone and Boba Fett’s “sister”, Omega.

Other cast members include Gwendoline Yeo (Nala Se), Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand), Corey Burton (Cad Bane), Rhea Perlman (Cid) and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising his Star Wars Rebels role as Caleb Dume AKA Kanan Jarrus.

When is Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 airing on Disney+?

After multiple reshuffles on the Lucasfilm calendar, The Bad Batch Season 2 will now release a two-episode event on January 4th, 2023, followed by weekly episodes for the rest of the 16-episode season. It will air exclusively on Disney+.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

After a long absence, the Guardians of the Galaxy finally returned to screens this year with a small cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder and their very own Holiday Special, which has set the stage nicely for the main event.

Indeed, these cameos and special treats are lovely, but they’re no substitute for an all-out Guardians adventure, so it’s quite lucky that their long-awaited third and seemingly final volume will be soon upon us!

Synopsis:
