Fun fact! Wicked has been seen over the world by over 65 million people and have been entranced by the magnificent musical. Due to the fantastic success of the stage performance, the franchise is set to cast it’s spell over a cinematic audience and hopefully gain a similar reception. With the release of the Wicked movie coming up soon, excited and elated fans across the country are impatiently waiting to watch this movie in cinema for the first time. How did the story of friendship between these two students get the opportunity to transition to the silver screen and make its mark in a cinematic world?

The transition of Wicked from an awe-inspiring stage production to a cinematic experience that not many musical fans will want to miss is proof to its long-lasting allure and unforgettable themes.

The stage show originally debuted on Broadway in 2003 starring Idina Menzel where she lead a cast of unstoppable members to become one of the most famous musicals of all time. The take it took on the land of Oz and showing the life of the Wicked Witch of the West from her point of view was a fantastic piece of work. We here at Misirli are unsurprised by the transition of this amazing show to the big screen.

We are excited to see how the creators of this movie are going to translate the musical to the cinematic experience we all hope it will become. We do not know much about how they handled the changes that had to be made but we hope they manage to preserve everything we love about the franchise. This smart title to a sequel to the fantastic franchise of Beetlejuice brings back an onslaught of nostalgia for fans of the original spooky movie. The long-awaited second coming of this wild and whacky being to the big screen gives a promise of an amazing sense of creativity from Tim Burton’s mind. There are few rivals that have caught the hearts through the movie’s stellar mix of macabre, hilarity and fantasy quite like Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. To this day, fans of old have used this franchise as a comfort movie to watch on rainy days inside or when spooky season comes along to bring joy to friends and family alike. The forced dancing around the dinner table to Day-O is a fond memory of 80s and 90s kids that is ingrained into brains and will never leave. The nostalgia of scenes like these are what Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hopes to tap into, allowing these now adults to feel like a child watching for the first time once again.

Returning characters to the movie, such as Lydia Deetz, hope to provide a continuity and deep connection to the original movie whilst also allowing to see how these characters have transformed and changed over the many years. We cannot wait to follow this emotional rollercoaster of a movie as we also find familiar and interesting references to the original hit.

In a world of eccentric tales and extravagant gothic characters, not many characters are as known or as iconic as Wednesday Addams. People always know of her but not how this spooky and witty girl came to be, and how the young girl became a huge part one of the most popular franchises today. What inspired the creation of this show? Who managed to capture this interesting individual? Let’s journey through the minds of the creators of Wednesday and how they created such a wonderful franchise.

After Wednesday had become a breakout hit with it’s combination of gothic quirks, morbid humour, and spooky mystery we wanted to take a deep dive into how this series came out of the woodworks and blossomed into the show we know and love today.

When the show was first announced, the excitement behind it was clear from everyone who had loved this character as a child. The series, directed by Tim Burton, took a modern take on the popular character Wednesday Addams and placed her in a new, unfamiliar environment of the school Nevermore. We can say we were more than excited to see how Tim Burton was going to use his skills of directing the whimsical movies he has in the past and transitioning them to the TV screen.

Wednesday has become a significant icon of rebellious and nonconformist youth through her rule breaking and sleuthing way throughout the show. This young girl has shown many viewers to not change for others and to stick to what makes people thereselves. By being a smart, sarcastic and unique individual (with some great dance moves) she has shown teenagers and young adults that being who you want to be is not something you should have to be apologetic about.

Another reason why the show is currently one of the best shows out there and works so well in the current times is the fact it leans into so many popular genres that people are currently looking for. Mystery and comedy are a hard combination to come by and to also execute well. Wedensday absolutely hit the nail on the head for this through a great balance of the two, with a mix of the supernatural intertwined of course.

Jenna Ortega’s great execution of this character has definitely made this show an unmissable option, she manages to use her acting chops to help hold up these genres and carry them over the line. Her confident use of straight-faced sarcasm throughout the show makes her unforgettable in this position.

The Wednesday franchise is currently thriving, especially with the new season of Wednesday releasing on Netflix early next year. Now, we see manufacturing of all kinds of products that resemble our weird and loveable family members.

As Wednesday became a household name, the franchise expanded even further.
