Boofle is a major brand across the world! More than 70 million Boofle greetings cards have been sold by UK Greetings since its launch in 2008, with annual sales now at 10 million. As they are within our licencing portfolio, we thought we would give you all a brief history to Boofle. So you can get to the know the names behind the well-known character.

Boofle is the ultimate, loveable knitted pup! Owned by leading card publisher, UK Greetings and created by award-winning duo, Sarah and David Blake, Boofle stands out as an original and refreshing 3D alternative to the traditional illustrative style of “cute” brands.

Combining distinctive photography and illustration with a fresh colour palette and contemporary patterns, the brand is genuinely unique. Boofle has a friendly, homemade appearance; knitting and patchwork give him a warm, natural feel, and this is reflected in the accompanying easy and expressive copy style.
Boofle also plays a very active part in the social media world, with 21.5k engaged Facebook fans and over 12.8k followers on Twitter. Boofle has an increased presence on YouTube, plus Boofle has his own Virtual Reality experience and two Apps including mini games and a ‘photo-boof’.

What If…?

With the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we realised that to get a better understanding of the Multiverse we need to watch the animated series ‘What if…?’ on Disney+. The first season is the fifth instalment of Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It premiered on August 11th 2021, and concluded on October 6th 2021. Both Disney and Marvel are within our licencing portfolio allowing us to create designs based on all the characters within their worlds.

What if instead of Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) became the first Super Soldier? That creative brainstorming exercise is the heart of What If…?, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first animated series. Throughout the series there are numerous major events that happen from the movies we know but are now massively different in game-changing ways.

Many of the major actors that played characters within the live action movies also voice them within the animated series. It stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L Jackson, Jeremy Rayner, Tom Hiddleston and many others. It also features Chadwick Boseman, who was able to reprise T’Challa via voice work before his passing.

We feel like this series has grave importance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it moves forward into the new era. We would urge you to watch it before you watch the new Doctor Strange film. Fans all over the world have given it high praise with its certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and has a score of 7.4/10 on IMDb.

Lightyear

Lightyear was released in the UK on the 17th of June 2022 and here at Misirli we are overjoyed that Disney is a part of our licencing portfolio, allowing us to create stunning designs for all the characters within the Disney world. 

Lightyear is a 2022 animated science fiction action-adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film is a spin-off of the Toy Story film series, serving as an origin story for the character Buzz Lightyear. It was co-written and directed by Angus MacLane and produced by Galyn Susman. It stars Chris Evans as the voice of the titular character, with Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba, Mary McDonald-Lewis, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. in supporting roles. 

It tells the story of the young astronaut Buzz Lightyear, who after being marooned on a hostile planet with his commander and crew, tries to find a way back home while confronting a threat in the form of Zurg. 

Our team are excited to go view the film and learn the true origin of the great Buzz Lightyear.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Stow away your shrinking rays and hide your fire extinguishers, because super-villain Gru and his sidekicks are back on the big screen in Minions: The Rise of Gru. We are pleased to have Minions as a part of our licensing portfolio to make interesting designs for the minion world.

Steve Carell’s uber-baddie is now shown at a formative age, the story now taking place in the 1970s. The ever-loyal Minions are by his side as the young Gru attempts to go against the dastardly Vicious 6, a group who know an evil scheme when they see one.

Ahead of seeing the movie, here’s your introduction to the Vicious 6 and the noted actors voicing them:

Belle Bottom

Belle Bottom is the nefarious, seventies-styled leader of the Vicious 6. She appointed herself leader after ousting the group’s previous chief, the nefarious Wild Knuckles (voiced by Alan Arkin).

Belle Bottom’s voice actor Taraji P. Henson was Oscar-nominated for her moving role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Svengeance

You need a seemingly invincible super-villain to square off against Gru, so who do you call? Naturally, it’s Rocky V and Masters of the Universe star Dolph Lundgren who, in his role as Svengeance, gleefully sends up his action movie image.

Stronghold

Danny Trejo is famous for the likes of the Machete series, a low-rent franchise fuelled by retribution. He also turned up in Michael Mann’s acclaimed crime drama Heat. In Minions, he voices the muscular and moustachioed Stronghold, and like Dolph Lundgren, demonstrates a game willingness to parody his screen image.

Nunchuck

Cult Xena Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless voices the relentless Nunchuck, and she has a habit of causing destruction.

Jean Clawed

This match-up between actor and character name is surely one of the best gags in the new Minions movie. Hard Target and Sudden Death star Jean-Claude Van Damme voices the crab-like antagonist who snaps to attention.

Minions: The Rise of Gru will be in cinemas on 1st July.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The latest Marvel Studios film to hit cinemas on 4th May 2022 and released to Disney plus on 22nd June 2022. Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness takes us on an unknown journey where Marvel Studios has decided to push the boundaries of the multiverse. Our team have just watched it on Disney+ and loved it, we are so happy to have both Disney and Marvel as a part of our licencing portfolio!

Several months after the events of Spider-man: No Way Home, Stephen Strange finds himself confronted with several different realities (simply called the multiverse). Doctor Strange will call upon Wanda Maximoff, now known as Scarlet Witch, and we will quickly learn the extent of her powers. A new character appears (and not the least) Strange will meet a teenager America Chavez who can create portals to other realities.

The famous Doctor Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch has been a regular at Marvel Studios since the first film released in 2016. We get to see some new acting and multiple personalities from Stephen Strange and we are not disappointed. Wanda Maximoff (Scarlett Witch) played by Elisabeth Olsen gives her character a new lease of life and we see the Witch in a new light. A new character arrives in this new film America Chavez played by Xochitl Gomez. Playing a young teenager from another universe, the new MCU heroine is part of Phase IV. Given her power, this may not be her only appearance. And many more, but we will not spoil anything…

We do suggest before you watch this film that you are up to date with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and watch these films/series before hand; ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘Wander Vision’, ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’, ‘What if…?’ and we would suggest you make sure you caught up with all other Marvel films or series especially Avengers.
